The end of the month jam night held by Wellington’s Capital Blues @ Hotel Bristol. Blues musicians are invited to register their interest in performing. A house band provides the nucleus but performers are able to perform solo or as their own group. Photographs taken by Don Laing.
Cuba Dupa was a 2 day festival of music, food and street entertainment held in 2015 at Wellington’s Cuba Street (NZ)
Dave Feehan heads a sizeable Wellington Band sporting himself and three backing vocalists. They played to an appreciative audience at Hotel Bristol on May 08 2014.
Auckland Blues Band the Flaming Mudcats rocked the Capital Blues night @ Hotel Bristol. Band members : Craig Bracken harmonica/vox, Doug Bygrave guitar, Sean McCarthy bass guitar, Ian Thomson drums.
Solo Blues singer-guitarist Dan Green opened for the Julie Lamb Band @ Wellington’s Hotel Bristol on the Capital Blues night.
The Del Thomas Band played songs from Del’s new album “Driving home Alone”.

British blues guitarist/singer Tom Rodwell was ably supported by trombonist/horn playing Gerard Crewdson @ Wellington’s Hotel Bristol on 14 11 13. Tom’s electrified, foot stomping country blues appealed to an appreciative audience.
Last Thursday of the month is Capital Blues Jam Night at Hotel Bristol. The House Band consisting of Del Thomas guitar, Peter Matich guitar, George Barris bass, Maurice Phillips drums and Bob Smith keys kicked off. Next came the Onslow College Band. Luminaries such as Jake Stokes and Phil McLaughlin stepped up to keep the guitars to the fore.
The Real Deal Blues Band is Darren Watson guitar vocals, Elliotte Fuimaono bass, Richard Te One drums, Al Norman keys.
Bluesfest, organised by Capital Blues ran from 12.00 midday to 12.00 midnight. 12 bands performed giving a range from bottleneck blues to soul and swing.
