13 JUNE Brannigan Kaa, vocalist and band leader extraordinaire, fronts this nine piece band. They’ve been playing together for the last eighteen months and have fine-tuned their groove & big band sound. Ray Tamaira– drums and vocals; Kevin Rangihura – keys; Elliotte Fuimaono – bass; Allen Saena – guitar; Brannigan Kaa – vocals. In the horns section: Dave Conning – trombone; Andrew Stewart – trumpet; Jenny Bedford – tenor saxophone; Paul Caddis – alto saxophone.
Hard working local band Wellington Heads take to the stage at the Bristol Hotel on Thursday 6 June as part of the Wellington Jazz festival on Cuba, to play their blend of Louis Jordan inspired original jump blues and 50`s rhythm & blues ala Ray Charles. Lots of other styles too taking in Hawaiian guitars, Caribbean beats, and funky New Orleans grooves.
