Oscar Lavën’s Rock n Roll Sax featuring Eugene Wolfin

Some people ask why do we have the Rock ‘n’ Roll Sax every month?

Because they are good. Simple as that.

This is always a high-energy, fun night. Lots of dancing, loads of great music, and plenty of top playing.

The virtuoso bandleader, Oscar Lavën, brings the band to life, and the energy quickly spreads around the room, so the audience is dancing and grooving before you know it.

Oscar is well known around Wellington music venues where he is a full-time live performer. Joining him will be some of Poneke’s other great players including Darren Matthiessen (Shapeshifter) on drums, Damien Forlong (Rodger Fox Big Band) on trombone, Deane Hunter on guitar, Patrick Bleakley on bass, and special guest vocalist, Eugene Wolfin.

They will be bringing you hot, honking, rock ‘n’ roll and R&B sax licks from saxophonists like Sam Butera, King Curtis, and Earl Bostic.
